When Charlotte de Vilmorin (based in based in Paris, France) traveled to Florida, she was frustrated by the lack of affordable transportation options for people with disabilities. After a lengthy search, she finally found a company that would accommodate her need for a wheelchair-accessible vehicle, but it was going to cost approximately $1,000 for 10 days. At that point, she decided to start a company that provides renters with wheelchair-accessible vehicles. Shortly thereafter, she developed and launched the company known as Wheeliz.
Thanks to Charlotte de Vilmorin for providing the much need service; Wheeliz for providing transportation solutions to the people who need them; Elizabeth Brentano for writing the article; The Mighty for committing its resources to the article; Wendy for sharing the article with me; and all the people who, directly or indirectly, made it possible for me to include the picture and text in this post.
