  • SPICE – Skills, Procedure, Information, Consensus, Empathy –  Skills (you can be “elected” the de facto leader if you have appropriate expertise in what’s needed to get the work of the group done). Procedure (if the group is floundering, or directionless, you can be influential simply by suggesting a course of action). Information (if you can provide crucial or highly valuable information / ideas, you become more influential). Consensus (the one who helps the group come to closure and move toward action is appreciated as a de facto leader). Empathy (various contributions that help to maintain a positive environment amongst the participants).
